Thinkingday / Foundersday 2026

 22.February 2026
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Scouting all over the World

The World Council of the WFIS wish you and all your Scouts and Guides a

“Happy Thinkingday, Happy Foundersday”

On 22. February we will celebrate the birthday of the Founder of Scouting, Robert Stephenson Smith Baden Powell – Lord of Gilwell, and his wife Lady Olave St. Clair.
Thinking Day is a moment to reflect on the global Scout and Guide movement, to celebrate international friendship, and to remember that we are part of a worldwide family that shares the same values. It is also a day to think about how Scouting has a positive impact on the world and how we can continue to help others.
If you are celebrating this day together with your association, group or troop, we would like to ask you to also think of our fellow Scouts and Guides who have less fortunate.
Some of our members continue to live with the effects of climate change, natural disasters and political challenges, which do not make their work with the Scouts any easier.
We would like to help and support these fellow Scouts and Guides again this year, whether it be with extended aid following the floods in Sri Lanka or with our brothers and sisters in Africa, to enable further education and training there.
It is a tradition dating back more than 100 years for Scouts to give a little in order to support something big. We would like to continue this initiative, known as Penny Action, this year.

If you want to participate in this year Penny action you can contact the WFIS world council.

Let’s stand together and celebrate this annual 169. Birthday of our Founder Lord Baden Powell and the 137. Birthday of Lady Olave.

In the name of the World Council, I wish you peace, friendship and a great time with your Scouts and Guides and remember that “Together we are strongest”

Yours in traditional Scouting
Klaus Tegeder – President WFIS
